About the Founder
Hi there, and welcome to Snapwork! My name is Mariya, and I’m thrilled you’re here. If you’re reading this, it means the idea of a platform that connects people with service professionals across Switzerland has caught your attention.
A little bit about me: I was born in Ukraine but have called Switzerland home since 2007. I hold an MSc in Management from HEC Lausanne and have always been passionate about entrepreneurship. There’s something truly fascinating about building solutions that help people and make everyday processes more efficient.
The idea for Snapwork came from a personal experience. A few years ago, I was moving from Geneva to Zurich and had a frustrating time trying to find someone to refresh the walls of my apartment before handing it back to the landlord. I tried using Facebook groups, but the search was inefficient, and it was impossible to verify the reliability of the person. Hiring a professional company wasn’t an option due to the high cost. Ultimately, the person I hired did a poor job, and I ended up paying twice.
That experience made me wish for a platform where service professionals could showcase their skills, and clients could easily find them, check reviews, and make informed decisions. Over the years, I encountered similar challenges—whether it was finding someone to professionally clean windows, hiring a house cleaner, or looking for an ice-skating trainer (yes, I love ice-skating). Talking to friends and colleagues, I realized I wasn’t alone. Many people, especially expats, shared the same struggles—whether it was finding a reliable nanny, a photographer, or a handyman.
On the flip side, I also spoke with freelancers who shared their own frustrations—relying on word-of-mouth recommendations, dealing with no-shows, or facing late payments. The process was neither seamless nor efficient for anyone involved.
This led to the creation of Snapwork—a Swiss platform where freelancers can create detailed profiles to showcase their work, while clients can find, book, and review their services with ease.
Snapwork is still in its early stages, and my goal with this beta version is to validate the idea and ensure it serves both freelancers and clients. Every profile created on Snapwork helps bring this vision closer to reality.
